Title: "The Open Gate"
Description:
Some doors are not made of wood or stone. They arise in a single moment – when the courage grows to leave the familiar behind and take the first step into the unknown. "The Open Gate" tells precisely of this moment: the transition between what was and what can become.
The powerful red frame draws the eye and feels like an invitation. It marks not a boundary, but a passage. The black lines and fine tendrils recall traces of what has been experienced – of experiences, doubts, and challenges that have shaped the path. Yet they also give the painting depth and make clear that every new beginning carries its own story.
The painting lives on the tension between energy and openness. It intentionally leaves room for one’s own thoughts and feelings and reminds us that change does not always begin loudly. Often, the courage to cross a single threshold is enough. Behind every open gate lies the possibility to see the world – or oneself – with new eyes.

The cracks in the image are intentional.
They are not a sign of damage, but part of the artistic expression. The fractures belong to the surface like scars to the skin: they tell of tension, movement and the very process. It is precisely through these cracks that the work gains depth and authenticity – nothing is smoothed over, nothing is hidden.
The canvas is delivered rolled.
Christoph Prein is an Austrian artist known for his abstract and contemporary works, created primarily with acrylic paints. Originating from St. Margarethen near Knittelfeld, Prein’s pieces are often characterized by a minimalist, abstract style and are carefully crafted from high-quality materials to ensure vibrant colors and longevity. In his art he frequently engages themes such as identity, memory and the exploration of human emotions, often pushing the boundaries between the visible and the invisible.
Prein’s approach to art is multidimensional, combining painting with elements of sculpture and installation. This unique style has earned him recognition in Austria as well as internationally, with exhibitions across Europe, North America and Asia. His works often invite the viewer to reflect on the complexities of the modern world and the deeper aspects of the human experience.
For a painting measuring 160 x 110 cm, a stretcher of size 150 x 100 cm with a thickness of 2-4 cm is required.
You can either simply stretch the canvas yourself or have it stretched by an artisan or gallery owner.
This is a handmade original, signed by the artist and dated on the back.
High-quality and lightfast acrylic paints have been used on multiple coats of white-ground gallery canvas.
A varnish was also applied to protect the work.
This work is handmade and thus unique!
--- Certificate of authenticity included ---
Beautify your private residence, law firm, practice or office and upgrade your premises in an elegant and stylish way.
When a person goes into his innermost depths, into a sphere that rarely comes to light, into a space that is mysteriously and hiddenly waiting to be discovered, tickled awake, also tormentingly propped up, then art is born.
