With this vertically oriented work, Medsan revisits Mickey Mouse, the world-famous Disney icon, freezing him in Rodin's Thinker pose and covering his body with a cloud of fluorescent tags.

The treatment plays on the contrast between a patinated, sculptural material, almost rusted and bronzed, and the explosive color of graffiti: “MIND,” “SOUL,” “LOVE,” “DREAM,” “LOST,” “KING” run across the body and the melancholic face of the mouse, chin resting on his fist. The three-dimensional rendering evokes both a collectible vinyl toy and street sculpture.

The piece overlays three cultural strata: the innocence of animated cartoons, the gravity of Rodin’s masterwork, and the rebellious energy of the street. This pensive Mickey, marked by time and words, embodies a twentieth-century icon unsettled by doubt — pop culture looking at itself.
