With this vertically oriented work, Medsan paints WALL-E, Pixar's little cleaning robot, in a melancholic spectrum of blues that pays homage to Pablo Picasso's Blue Period.

The treatment is that of a sensitive and introspective oil: visible brushstrokes, bluish monochrome, soft, muted light. Rounded up in the corner of an empty room, the robot reflects in a puddle, its large optical eyes filled with a sadness almost human. The rust patina and signs of wear on its body enhance this impression of abandonment and solitude. The cartouche メドサン signs the piece.

By translating WALL-E into the palette of Picasso’s melancholy—the one of the impoverished and the solitary—Medsan reveals the full emotional charge of the character: the loneliness of the last machine on a deserted Earth, and Pixar’s ability to evoke emotion from a metal being. A portrait of solitude that transcends eras and materials.
