With this square-format work, Medsan places Cloud Strife, the mythical hero of Final Fantasy VII, not at the heart of a battlefield, but on a wobbly stool at a ramen stall, alone, in a rain-soaked Japanese alley.

The treatment blends atmospheric painting and nocturnal light: red lanterns “ ラーメン ” emitting amber warmth, steam rising from the bowl, slick cobblestones and neon submerged in the background darkness. The mercenary, blond spikes for hair and shoulder armor, eats in silence, while his famed Buster Sword rests against the counter, almost forgotten during the meal.

The piece captures a moment of solitude and simplicity that humanizes the warrior. Far from summons and colossal battles, Cloud is nothing more than a passing customer, savoring a hot bowl in the night’s quiet. Medsan captures this soft melancholy, this in-between moment where the hero becomes a tired man again.
