Antique Metal Presse Papier – Parisian History 1830-1944

This is a genuine, heavy metal relief block (stereotype or electrotype cliché) dating from mid-20th century.

The intricately carved relief depicts dramatic historical scenes from Paris, including barricades and revolutionary moments from the July Revolution of 1830, references to the Liberation of Paris in 1944, and the iconic city motto “Fluctuat nec mergitur” (“Tossed but not sunk”).
In excellent vintage condition with sharp details and a beautiful natural patina. A wonderful example of traditional heritage, ideal for collectors of, French history, or as a striking decorative object.
