Translated from English with the author's permission by Hippolyte Vattemare.
Contains 56 engravings and 2 maps, all present.
Original French edition published in Paris, Librairie Hachette et Cie, in 1875.
Red half-leather binding, spine with gilt tooling and raised bands, top edge dyed.
Interior fresh, homogeneous, with no notable foxing.
An exceptional testimony on 19th-century African explorations.

Handcrafted binding, solid
Back and corners slightly rubbed
Interior fresh and complete, aside from a few stains.
Engravings sharp and well printed
Maps present, and the large folding map at the end of the volume is torn at the top; I leave it to the buyer to repair it in their own way. Bottom hinge damaged, despite the binding remaining solid. (SEE PHOTOS!!!)
