Introduction

This is a Westclox Scotty open-face pocket watch, made in the USA, featuring a clean white dial with bold Arabic numerals, blued-steel hands, and a subsidiary seconds register at the 6 o'clock position. The dial is signed 'WESTCLOX Scotty' and marked 'SHOCK RESISTANT' and 'MADE IN U.S.A.' The movement is a manual-winding lever escapement with a visible balance wheel and is also stamped 'MADE IN U.S.A.' on the mainplate.

Westclox, founded in 1895 in La Salle, Illinois under the Western Clock Company name, became one of America's most prolific timekeeping manufacturers. The Scotty model was part of Westclox's broad range of affordable, practical pocket watches aimed at the everyday working American market. Case: The chrome-style snap-back case measures 50 mm in diameter and shows age-appropriate wear throughout: the back exterior is scratched and shows some patination/tarnishing consistent with decades of handling, and the case band has light surface marks. The bow and crown are intact and functional. No deep dents are noted.

Dial: The white dial is generally legible with clear bold numerals and intact printed text. There is light aging visible — minor spotting and slight discolouration near the subsidiary seconds sub-dial — but overall the dial presents well for its age.

Crystal: The domed mineral/acrylic crystal has light surface scratches and some haze consistent with age, but it remains sufficiently clear to read the dial without significant obstruction.

Movement: The movement appears to be running based on the photos — the balance wheel is visible and the hands appear set. However, I have not rigorously tested accuracy or power reserve. The movement interior shows some minor dust and aging but no obvious damage. Service history is unknown.
