Pancho Porto (1988) - EGO

Limited edition sculpture of 25 copies in bronze and corten steel by the Spanish sculptor Pancho Porto. The sculpture is delivered hand-signed and numbered, accompanied by its respective certificate of authenticity. Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988) began his training in the specialty of artistic cabinetmaking at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense. At this school he had his first contact with disciplines such as carving, drawing, or modeling, and, more importantly, with workshop work.

Later he enrolled at the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Trades in Santiago de Compostela, where he studied what would later become his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school where he already works with materials that would be basic in his work, such as steel or clay. Parallel, Porto continues his training personally and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes, leaning toward the use of bronze and steel as the definitive materials for his works.

After this initial stage of training, he decides to install his studio on the banks of the Sarela river, very close to the place where he was born. It is here where he begins his particular theoretical and practical research on the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals when it comes to communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the usual tone of his works, adding complexity and depth to his entire body of work, with themes that touch both social aspects and his personal experiences.
