Important French technical lantern from the early 20th century, produced by the Louis Savignon company of Lyon, as per the original plaque:
AUTOGÉNÉRATEUR – Louis Savignon – 4, Rue Auguste Comte, Lyon.
This is a professional device with an autonomous acetylene (carbide) gas generator, used in railway, industrial, or construction settings for illumination and signaling.
Nickel-plated metal body with original patina, large convex glass front lens, opening door, top handle, separate lower reservoir and upper adjustment valves. Genuine authentic item and not a reproduction.
Dimensions: Height: 26 cm - Base diameter: 10 cm - Lens diameter: 11 cm - Depth: 14 cm - Weight: about 1.5 kg
Era: circa 1900–1925
Overall good condition for age, with signs of use and patina consistent. Lens intact. Mechanisms present (not tested with fuel). Sold as a collectible/industrial decor object.
