Winterimpression is an 1983 oil painting by M. Starzyński (XX) from Poland in the Impressionist style, depicting a winter scene of Warsaw's Old Town and sold with its original carved wooden frame.
Description from the seller
The painting depicts a picturesque winter view of Warsaw's historic Old Town (Stare Miasto). A horse-drawn carriage travels through a snow-covered street lined with elegant historic townhouses, leading the viewer's eye towards a baroque church. The atmospheric lighting, expressive brushwork and harmonious winter palette capture the quiet charm of Warsaw in winter.
The work is signed M. Starzyński in the lower right corner. The reverse bears the handwritten inscription:
"Stare Miasto – Warszawa – 1983"
confirming the title, location and year of execution.
Also visible on the reverse are original Polish export control stamps stating that the artwork was officially cleared for export and was not subject to Polish cultural heritage export restrictions, a common procedure for artworks legally sold abroad during the 1980s.
The painting is mounted in its original richly carved solid wooden frame, which complements the traditional character of the composition.
A fine original example of late 20th-century Polish cityscape painting and an attractive decorative artwork.
