AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Old mask Ekoi-tribe of Cameroon, Equatorial Africa region. The entire face is covered with real leather. The artistic production of the Cross-River region is exceptional because of the use of a technique - unique in Africa - which consists to wrap a carved wood-core in animal skin. This technique is mainly used for crests and helmet masks. The skin is first tanned and then stretched on the wood, it brings texture, brightness, and the volume of human fleshes on the skeleton, plus it confers a surprising realism to its pieces.

Good condition, no restorations. Some wear due age as pictured. 3th quarter 20th century.

Careful registered sending, combined shipping possible.
