After Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) - Bodegón con manzanas y naranjas

Cezanne was a painter who had long been overlooked and misunderstood, with a tortuous struggle between his vocation and the pressures his powerful banker father wanted to impose. His father's death, upon receiving an inheritance, allowed him to live comfortably and dedicate himself to painting in an independent and personal way, sheltered in Provence. The painter recovers the still-life genre to rationally and intellectually experiment with shapes and framing. In this sense the motif will not have the decorative end of Flemish still lifes but that the subject or motif is the excuse to investigate forms, volumes and framing. Towards the end of the century, a exhibition dedicated to his painting received recognition and opened the doors to some avant-gardes such as Cubism.
