Slasky - Red Hood No.2

This Slasky piece reworks a classic 17th-century portrait, transforming it into a contemporary key by using a striking disruptive element: the face of the figure is completely concealed by a bright red drape. The artist thus puts past and present in dialogue, merging painting tradition with pop imaginary, creating a contrast that provokes reflection on identity, anonymity, and aesthetic perception.

The tactile texture and digital intervention render the image suspended between photography and painting, a typical visual language of Slasky, who for years has explored blends between classical art and urban culture.

Slasky is an established Italian artist whose works have been exhibited in solo and group shows internationally.

The artist has the ability to fuse classical artworks with contemporary digital art techniques. With his neo-urban classic style, he blends tradition and modernity, bringing the protagonists of original artworks into contemporary social and artistic environments.

Slasky (b. 1972, Italy) is a self-taught artist working from Artena, Rome. His practice emerged from outside the institutional art system — a background in manual labour that informs both the materiality of his work and the precision of its conceptual framework. Active since 2015, he has built an independent market presence across Europe and Asia before undertaking a decisive shift toward institutional research practice.
