Description from the seller
Rare Vintage Zenith Chronograph in Solid 18K Rose Gold – Cal. 146D, Early 1960s
An exceptionally elegant and highly collectible Zenith two-register chronograph, dating from approximately the early 1960s and housed in a beautifully proportioned case made of solid 18K rose gold.
The watch is powered by the renowned, manually wound Zenith calibre 146D, an attractive traditional chronograph movement featuring a sophisticated column-wheel construction. The movement is signed “ZENITH – SWISS MADE” and presents beautifully through its combination of rhodium-plated bridges, ruby jewels and gold-toned wheels.
The original silver-coloured dial has developed a subtle and appealing vintage character. It features applied rose-gold baton hour markers, matching rose-gold hands, two finely engine-turned subsidiary dials and an elegant applied Zenith star emblem.
The chronograph layout consists of:
a continuous small-seconds register at 9 o’clock,
a 45-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock,
a central chronograph seconds hand,
and a blue peripheral tachymeter scale.
The combination of the warm rose-gold case, silver dial and contrasting blue and black printed scales gives the watch a refined yet sporty appearance typical of the finest mid-century chronographs.
