Marc is a Spanish motorcycle racer. He has won nine World Championship titles in three categories: 125cc (2010), Moto2 (2012), and seven times in MotoGP (2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2025). He was also runner-up in Moto2 in 2011 and third in MotoGP in 2015 and 2024. Between 2013 and 2023 he rode for Repsol Honda, with which he accumulated 59 victories and 101 podiums in 169 Grand Prix, becoming the most decorated rider for the brand. In 2024 he competed with the Gresini Racing team, alongside his brother Álex Márquez. From 2025 he is part of the official Ducati team, with a contract through 2028.

In his first season in the “premier category,” he won the MotoGP World Championship in 2013 at the age of 20 years and 266 days, becoming the youngest rider to win a premier-class championship in this sport, thus surpassing the Freddie Spencer record. He is also the youngest-ever rider to be a bi-, tri-, tetra-, penta- and hexa-champion of the premier category of motorcycle racing. He is the third rider with the most wins in the history of the MotoGP World Championship (102) and in MotoGP he is the second-most victorious rider (76) not counting sprint races (19), the second-highest podium finisher (129), the rider with the most pole positions (77), the second-most fastest laps (74), the rider with the most grand chelems (12), the rider with the most BMW M Awards (8), and he holds the record for most wins in a single season, having won 13 of 18 races in 2014, which corresponds to 72.22%, among other records. He is one of four riders to win world titles in three different categories, along with Mike Hailwood, Phil Read, and Valentino Rossi. Along with Casey Stoner, he is the second rider to debut in Ducati’s official team with a victory in his first race, and one of the few who have won the MotoGP World Championship in his first year with the factory.

He has a younger brother, Álex Márquez (born 1996), who also competes in the MotoGP category and has won two World Championship titles. Marc and Álex are the only brothers to have won a MotoGP World Championship and also in the same season, in 2014 and 2019, together with being the first brothers to win a Grand Prix on the same day (June 15, 2014 at the Catalan Grand Prix, at the Montmeló circuit, Spain). In the premier category they have been the first brothers to finish first and second in the entire history (as of March 2, 2025 at the Thailand Grand Prix), the only brothers to have finished champion and runner-up, to win a Grand Prix, to lead the world standings, and the most frequent podiums together.
