Ralf Altrieth, Comment dire autrement - XXL, an original 2022 painting in aerosol, oilstick and pastel on canvas, 185 × 195 cm, signed on the edge with a certificate of authenticity, in excellent condition and from France.
Description from the seller
At first glance, Ralf Altrieth's painting seems to spring forth in a free, instinctive momentum. Then the gaze lingers—and gradually reveals a world more complex, traversed by moving forms, unexpected encounters, and surprising equilibria. Nothing is fixed. The work constantly evolves with distance, light, and the time spent before it.
In this universe, the boundary between abstraction and figuration remains deliberately unstable. Possible silhouettes emerge, depths are suggested, never settling. The eye is invited, set in motion. Seeing becomes an active, almost physical, experience.
But beyond their immediate energy, Ralf Altrieth's works settle enduringly into space. They settle in through their density. Through their presence. And through this rare ability to transform the space in which they take place.

CRITIQUE AND PRESS:
"In this sense, Ralf Altrieth's pictorial poems are pure childish songs. From the crucible of improvisation, they bring forth a pristine world made of spontaneous joys and strong impulses."
— Dr. Friedhelm Häring, art historian and museum director
"His gestural writing and color describe a world open to new voices and to experiences never attempted. His canvases and works on paper demonstrate that painting remains a major expression on the contemporary scene."
— Laurent Puech, art historian and curator
