Description from the seller
Antique hexagonal wooden base, carved and gilded - Rococo / Baroque style - Italy, 19th Century
Elegant and imposing antique hexagonal elongated base, made of carved wood and finished with rich gilding. The object features a sumptuous raised decoration on every side, characterized by volute foliate motifs, garlands and central oval reserves with a superb Baroque/Rococo flavor. This type of artisan piece originally originated as a processional base for sacred statues, or as a refined display plinth for table clocks ("pendole"), sculptures, or very fine porcelain or marble vases. The upper part shows the patina of time and the rough surface where the main object was originally anchored. A piece of antique allure, ideal for elevating and valorizing artworks, sculptures or collectibles in an upscale interior.
