Description from the seller
Bulova Accutron Spaceview Cal. 214H – Stainless Steel – Men’s – 1964
An exceptional Bulova Accutron Spaceview dating from 1964 (M4), representing one of the most important technological milestones in twentieth-century watchmaking. Introduced in the early 1960s, the Accutron was the world’s first commercially successful electronic wristwatch, replacing the traditional balance wheel with a revolutionary electronically driven tuning fork.
This example is powered by the renowned Bulova Accutron Caliber 214H, an electronic tuning fork movement operating at 360 Hz, producing the unmistakable smooth sweep of the seconds hand and the characteristic humming sound for which the Accutron became famous.
The iconic Spaceview design proudly exposes the movement beneath the crystal, allowing the wearer to admire the twin copper coils, tuning fork mechanism and electronic circuitry that made the Accutron one of the most innovative watches ever produced. Originally created as a demonstration model for retailers, the Spaceview quickly became one of Bulova’s most sought-after models and remains a true collector’s icon today.
This watch features a stainless steel case, grey chapter ring with applied luminous hour markers, silver baton hands and black leather strap that complements its distinctive vintage appearance.
