First edition of one of Verne's most famous novels, with magnificent illustrations. The book uses numerous narrative devices typical of his previous novels: islands, cryptograms, surprising revelations of identity, futuristic devices and a solitary hero in search of revenge.
Verne dedicated the novel to the memory of Alexandre Dumas père, hoping to make Mathias Sandorf the Count of Monte Cristo of his "Voyages extraordinaires".
