Description:
Sometimes it feels as if something heavy lies upon us. As if dark areas have layered themselves over each other and are trying to smother the glow beneath. "Blockade" tells of exactly this moment – of the feeling of being stuck, not seeing a passage, no clear path.

And yet there is this blue.

It breaks through the cracks, shimmers between the black layers, breathes under the pressure. It is not loud, not intrusive – but impossible to miss. Like a thought that cannot be suppressed. Like hope that refuses to disappear.

The black forms seem like barriers, like shields or obstacles – perhaps imposed from outside, perhaps self-created. They overlap, obscure, control. But they are not complete. They cannot completely swallow the glow.

"Blockade" is not stagnation. It is tension. It is the struggle between constriction and expansion, between darkness and inner light. A painting about resilience – about how, even under pressure, something inside us continues to glow.

Christoph Prein is an Austrian artist known for his abstract and contemporary works, mainly created with acrylic paints. Originating from St. Margarethen near Knittelfeld, Prein’s pieces are often characterized by a minimalist, abstract style and are carefully produced from high-quality materials to ensure vibrant colors and longevity. High-quality and lightfast acrylic paints were applied to a multi-layer, white-primed gallery canvas.
