A pair of lobed plates with underglaze blue decoration. Each plate features a central medallion filled with a dense floral composition comprising peonies, chrysanthemums, lotus blossoms, and scrolling foliage. The ground is divided into panels with alternating decorations of flowers, plants, and birds, separated by ornamental bands in a crackle-like style. The underside is also adorned with panel decoration and bears the Artemisia leaf mark.
The plates are characteristic of the high-quality Chinese export porcelain that, in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, was shipped to Europe via the VOC.
Condition:
