Chinese Kangxi-period blue-and-white porcelain dish - ca. 1680-1720

A large blue-and-white porcelain dish from the Chinese Kangxi period (1662-1722), Qing Dynasty. The dish is richly decorated with a dense floral program consisting of chrysanthemums, peonies, plum blossoms, lotus flowers, and stylized ball flowers, painted in cobalt blue underglaze. In the center a medallion with a floral motif, surrounded by four smaller medallions with geometric patterns. The broad rim shows a continuous floral frieze.

The rim is finished with a brown capucine edge (iron oxide). On the reverse, stylized flower sprigs and in the center an Artemisia leaf mark within a double circle.

Dimensions: Diameter 34.5 cm

Condition: The dish has been broken into several pieces and has been glued. The crack lines are clearly visible on both the front and back. Adhesive residues visible on the back. No missing parts. The decoration and glaze are further in good condition with bright blue tones.
