Description from the seller
Atmospheric and refined antique Catholic devotional figure depicting the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Sacré-Cœur).
This statue is finished to a high standard in biscuit porcelain/glazed porcelain and stands out for its special details. The robe is adorned with golden rosettes, subtle accents and raised enameled dots (pearl relief) on the robe and the heart. The painting on the cloak is somewhat faded on the cloak but this is easily touch-upable. I have left the figure in authentic condition so the buyer can decide for themselves.
At the rear bottom of the cloak is the original form/model number stamped (1855). At the bottom of the hollow base there is also a blind stamp number 34. This type of detailed porcelainwork is characteristic of skilled German (Thüringen) or French porcelain factories around the turn of the century.
A beautiful collectible for lovers of religious art and antique porcelain!
