Description from the seller
Lot of 4 Vintage Handmade Boxes: 3 Florentine Style Boxes with Gold Leaf (Italy, c. 1970-1980) + 1 Hand-Carved Box from Bangassou (Central African Republic)
Lot Details:
Three Florentine Style Boxes (Florence, Italy, c. 1970–1980):
Technique and Structure: Made according to Tuscan tradition on a light core / papier-mâché coated with gesso (gilding plaster), on which gold leaf and hand-painted decoration are applied (orange diamonds, floral motifs and green bands).
Hardware: Classic assembly using simple pin nails, characteristic of artisanal work of the period.
Designs: Includes a box with green feet and trim, a domed box with geometric pattern, and a flat rectangular box.
Hand-Carved Traditional Box (Bangassou, Central African Republic):
Crafted in reddish-toned noble wood with incised geometric engraving.
Authenticity: Hand-carved signature and provenance inscription on the base: "Souvenir de Bangassou - 016".
Condition:
Overall: Very good vintage condition.
Florentine boxes: Maintain their natural patina with slight losses or wear to the gold leaf on edges and corners, typical of their age and use, which confirms their authenticity.
African box: Solid structure and well maintained.
