Unique opportunity for collectors of historic Olympic memorabilia. This lot contains two original, early Olympic items: Official Competitor Badge (Competitor Badge) – Olympic Games London 1908. This is an extremely rare and sought-after official badge that at the time was exclusively awarded to participating athletes. Design: A beautiful blue-enamelled outer rim with the text "Olympic Games London 1908 Competitor". In the silvery center is depicted the profile of the Greek goddess Athena with a laurel leaf. Maker: Produced by the renowned medal maker Vaughtons of Birmingham. Condition: In nice, authentic vintage condition with a beautiful patina. The enamel is still very legible (see photos for exact details). On the back there is the original clasp/pin and the serial number. Classic Olympic tie pin / stickpin. An early, elegant pin with the iconic five colored Olympic rings. This type of pin was worn by officials, athletes or issued as an exclusive commemorative souvenir in the first half of the 20th century.
