Gustav Klimt: "The dancer, 1916-1918".
Condition: the work is in excellent condition.
Authorized color offset lithograph, produced premium matte (non-reflective) and with a high color intensity.
Publisher: authorized art publisher.
Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was a leading Austrian painter of the Vienna Secession and one of the most innovative figures in modern art. His work is praised for its fusion of symbolism, erotica, and decorative opulence. Klimt developed a unique visual language that combined natural figures with flat, ornamental surfaces, often enriched with gold leaf and intricate geometric patterns. His art explored themes such as love, sensuality, death, and renewal, making him a central figure in early 20th-century modernism.
On the art market, Klimt’s works are among the most sought after in the world. Paintings such as Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I have fetched more than $100 million, placing him among the most valuable artists at auction. Collectors and museums highly prize Klimt for the rarity of his masterworks, the iconic appeal of his golden period, and the emotional intensity present in his later works.
This artwork is one of Klimt’s more complex compositions, in which the figure and the background nearly seamlessly merge through a layering of floral motifs.
The painting was unfinished at the time of Klimt’s death in 1918, which is partly visible in the lower part of the canvas.
The depicted woman is dressed in a kimono and surrounded by a lush bouquet of anemones.
The work was the first Klimt painting exhibited in the United States, in 1922 in New York.
Never framed and kept in a dark archival storage between protective acid-free paper.
The shown photos are part of the description.
