Auction offer: an important unique work by Edgardo Mannucci, dated 1960, belonging to the mature and sought-after period of his artistic production.
Created using a sophisticated material technique based on adhesives, pastes and tempera, the work develops as an intense abstract relief in which the matter assumes a strong plastic and sculptural value. The vibrant red chromatic dominant dialog with a complex relief structure that emerges from the surface, creating a work of great visual strength and notable emotional impact.
Considered one of the most significant protagonists of Italian art of the 20th century, Edgardo Mannucci is known mainly for his activity as a sculptor, but his research also extended with great originality to material experiments and informal art. During his career he participated in numerous exhibitions and important international shows, including several editions of the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadriennale. His works are today conserved in important museums and public and private collections.
Of particular historical interest is the bond that united Mannucci with Alberto Burri, with whom he shared a deep friendship and intense artistic dialogue. The two artists were protagonists of the postwar Roman scene and participated together in the experience of the Gruppo Origine, one of the fundamental moments for the birth of Italian informal art. Mannucci's research on matter and relief directly dialogued with that developed by Burri in the same years, making this work a significant testimony of one of the most innovative seasons of 20th-century Italian art.
The work is accompanied by authentication released by the heirs of Edgardo Mannucci, the only subjects authorized to authenticate the artist's works, a factor that guarantees full reliability and collecting security.
A work of notable quality, belonging to a historicized author and present in 20th-century art literature, particularly interesting for collectors of informal, material and postwar Italian art.
Conditions: good overall condition, with slight signs of time consistent with the age of the work.
