Emma Beatrice Pierotti - MeMé - Wabi sabi - もののあはれ

Opera created in 2026 by the artist Emma Beatrice Pierotti, born 1990, Italy, known as MEMÉ. An emerging self-taught artist, she has participated in countless national and international exhibitions with participation certificates and awards such as Artist of the Year, and is featured in art catalogues as an effect of art for the years 2024 and 2025, e.g., Brussels, London, Miami, New York, Washington, Los Angeles, Venice, Rome, with a frequent collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Istanbul, ARDAHAN ÜNİVERSİTESİ / GÜZEL SANATLAR FAKÜLTESİ / FACULTY OF FINE ARTS.

This acrylic and oil pastel work is made on canvas with mixed media, measuring 190x220 cm. The painting honors the philosophical culture of Japan; the elements of writing indicate the pathos of things, the melancholy of beauty, and the awareness of impermanence. Mono no aware is not sadness but a dawning awareness of the flow. The circles in the upper right, distancing and opening, reinforce the message. The corrective elements, the darkness of the painting, and the white cutting through the canvas embody Wabi Sabi: in the darkness there is light, the qualities and capacities reside, shadow is not wrong and the broken can take on new forms. The red Xs are the mistake “the broken” that brings the painting to life with their vivid color, then corrected with gold, giving value to the act of reclamation, exactly like the art of Kintsugi. These two elements together represent an analytical and humble intelligence. One cannot exist without the other.

Unique of its kind, in excellent condition, manually signed bottom right and on the back with ink; the frame is not present. Shipping would be arranged with the canvas rolled in a tube suitable for shipping. The packaging uses recycled materials to counter pollution and promote the recycling of existing materials; this can also become a creative and enjoyable process, without compromising packaging suitability.
