A rare independent Springbank from The Cooper’s Choice — distilled May 1998 at the height of Campbeltown’s revival and left to mature for 18 long years in a refilled sherry cask. Bottled in 2016 at natural strength (46%), non-chill filtered, one of just 300 bottles from cask no. 116. Springbank remains one of only three working distilleries left in Campbeltown, and family-owned bottlings like this rarely resurface once collectors get hold of them. Renowned critic Serge Valentin scored this exact cask five stars, praising its “wonderful feeling of wholeness” — burnt oak, orange zest, old oloroso, and a long, cigar-leather finish. With Springbank’s own 1998 Vintage Series just launched to strong collector demand, this independent sibling from the same distillation year offers a rarer, more characterful alternative at a fraction of the exposure.
