Parallel Gaze
Parallel Gaze explores the coexistence of two presences within the same pictorial space, building a visual relationship based on closeness, contrast, and silent tension. The two faces share the composition without fully merging, as if each inhabited its own emotional dimension.
The cubist-inspired structure fragments the forms and reorganizes the figure through overlapped planes, vertical lines, and pronounced contrasts. The blue stripe crossing the center of the work acts almost as an axis or boundary, separating and connecting the two identities at the same time. That duality intensifies in the gazes: one more restrained, the other more direct, both placed in a parallel dialogue.
The palette blends intense blues with yellows, oranges, reds, and bright pinks, creating a vibrant chromatic tension between cool and warm zones. This play of color adds psychological depth to the piece and reinforces the sense that each figure expresses a different internal state.
The presence of the hand and the small container introduces an intimate, human detail within a composition dominated by geometry. The visible brushwork and texture variations preserve the energy of the painting process and enrich the surface.
In Parallel Gaze, the gaze functions not only as a facial feature but as a symbol of relation, distance, and interiority. The work proposes an encounter between two figures who share the same plane, but not necessarily the same experience, turning the painting into a reflection on proximity, difference, and coexistence.
