Antoine Stevens (1987) presents Cléo, an original 1/1 acrylic painting on canvas, 92 × 73 cm, signed by the artist, a portrait in street art style from France, dated 2024.
Description from the seller
Unique original work created in acrylic on canvas.
Born in 1987 in the north of France, Antoine Stevens discovered graffiti in his adolescence before developing a studio painting practice from 2005. His artistic universe sits at the crossroads of street art and contemporary figurative portraiture. Through free gestural brushwork, layers of material, controlled splashes, and graphic interventions, he composes portraits of great emotional intensity where realism and abstraction meet. His work is today presented in several galleries in France and internationally.
With Maia, Antoine Stevens delivers a striking female portrait where the gentleness of the features contrasts with the energy of the painting gesture. The face gradually emerges from the canvas, bathed in shades of blue, pink, white and ochre that seem to blend with the material. Long vertical drips, splatters, and graphic interventions add depth and spontaneity to the composition.
The gaze, at once intense and melancholic, constitutes the anchor of the work. The effects of transparency and the superposition of colors create an almost dreamlike atmosphere, characteristic of Antoine Stevens' work. Between classic portrait and contemporary abstraction, Maia testifies to the artist's technical mastery and his ability to convey an immediate emotion.
