David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
Multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first gained recognition with a series devoted to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence led to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the distinctive aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a striking, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each artwork rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From a distance, the image reveals a recognizable figure; up close, it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave”, evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. Extensive work is carried out on colors, light, and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated rear mounting. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with a flexible UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term color stability, and a modern, contemporary look.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops author and musician work including three novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and five self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
