Description from the seller
New Series – Lost Souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later captivated by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extended this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Lost Souls
With this series, David Law dives into pared-down, dark universes, inhabited by suspended phantom silhouettes. These indistinct, almost erased presences wander in strange landscapes where emptiness becomes matter. Through a visual language built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores notions of isolation, trace, and memory. A silent crossing, at the borders of the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mount. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a flexible UV- and humidity-resistant laminate, ensuring excellent durability, long-term stability of colors and a modern, contemporary look.
Biography
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the dedicated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual work, he develops an author’s practice and a musician’s career, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
