Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer-Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
A multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence, and the perception of the image in urban space. He first gained recognition with a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Drawn by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Private Worlds
In a repetitive facade where every window becomes a world, light reveals fragments of silent lives. Behind each colored square, simple gestures — almost invisible — tell of intimacy, waiting, and isolation. No gaze crosses paths, no story intersects. A collection of contemporary solitudes, locked within their own luminous frames. This series was conceived using contemporary visual-creation workflows, employing current graphic tools and digital composition techniques.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops a writer/author and musician career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photobook, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he is currently performing with the band FRENZY.
