Figure of Roman mythology, the faun is a very ancient deity, connected to the vegetal and animal world, protector of the woods and forests. Its figure is linked to Dionysus, a deity also connected to the natural world, with whom it shares this aspect of communion with nature. Here the faun is carrying a wineskin, an ancient container for liquids.
