Danilo Carfagno - Aristarco da Samo, astronomo

Carfagno Danilo. This work, titled "Aristarco da Samo", is one of the sculptures that are part of the exhibition "Ellenikos" held by the author in the 2000s with the patronage of the Municipality of Colli al Metauro in the Province of Pesaro-Urbino. Carfagno Danilo boasts annual solo exhibitions and publications in art magazines at the national level. He is the illustrator of the Divine Comedy with 3 paintings of 6 m² each that he brings annually to his exhibitions. The work "Aristarco da Samo" is a full, life-size bust obtained by improvisation on a 30 kg clay block, without any preliminary sketch. It dried for 5 months and was fired at 980 degrees, then coated with liquid bronze and subsequently oxidized. It is a unique and original piece. The sculpture captures the Greek Astronomer in the moment he observes the stars in the celestial vault. On the left it bears the author’s initials and below the indications of the exhibition in which the work was displayed and the artist’s autograph.
