Description from the seller
MARÉ SOL (1890) - La Siesta by the Water - Mixed media on canvas
Mixed media, acrylic painting · digital painting · Hand-signed · 2024
On light rocks by emerald-green water, three youngsters rest after swimming, skin warmed by the sun. One, lying on his stomach, chin on his hands, dreams with eyes half-closed; the other two drift off further away, left to the torpor of the afternoon. The deep water reflects the dark foliage of the opposite bank, while light makes the stone glisten in nacreous, mauve, and golden knife-like strokes. Everything is calm, suspended, and filled with heat. Painted with generous, vibrant material, the scene captures this precious moment when time stops, when the happy fatigue of the bodies blends with the cool shade and water. A soft elegy to summer and to lazy youth.
Technique mixte : acrylic on ink-printed etching, satin varnish.
Varnish applied by hand, for the depth of colors and the enduring protection of the work.
Support: premium canvas stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang.
Format: to be specified.
Signed MARÉ SOL · Galerie Labo Joconde / Atelier Joconde · certificate of authenticity provided.
MARÉ SOL is one of the creations bringing together artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neo-realism, pop, and free figuration. Under the name MARÉ SOL, the Studio celebrates outdoor light and summer swimming, in the tradition of knife-edge impressionist painting: bold sun, translucent water, vibrant impasto, and Mediterranean joie de vivre.
MARÉ SOL gathers summer scenes by the water: dives, swims, sunbathing, captured in the blaze of light and the vigor of youth. The through line: a dialogue between the Impressionist heritage and a contemporary gaze, where the pictorial matter enhances and transfigures the printed image.
Each work is a unique piece.
