Description from the seller
Vintage Jasba ceramic design vase – West Germany – 1950s/1960s
A characterful and decorative vintage ceramic vase from Jasba Keramik, manufactured in West Germany during the heyday of the so-called “West German Pottery” design from the fifties and sixties.
The vase features an elegant, lightly contoured shape with a flared neck, typical for the experimental ceramic design of this period. The surface shows a subtly striped texture in earthy tones, combined with a striking decorative panel in deep brown with an abstract yellow line drawing. On the front, three small red and green accents provide a playful graphic detail.
The interior of the vase is glazed in a warm yellowish tint, creating a nice contrast with the natural exterior surface. Under the vase is the marking “602/28 / W-Germany,” along with the original Jasba Keramik – Form und Farbe label.
Jasba Keramik was founded in 1926 in Ransbach-Baumbach (Westerwald, Germany) and grew in the 1950s and 1960s into one of the best-known producers of modern ceramics in West Germany. The company was known for its bold forms, experimental glazes, and colorful decorations, which perfectly matched the modern interior style of the postwar period.
West German pottery from this era is nowadays highly sought after by collectors because of its unique forms, expressive decorations, and recognizable design language.
