Description from the seller
Marrakech Series
- Title: Koutoubia Twist
- Fine Art print 50x50, numbered and signed 1/15, unframed
- Certificate of Authenticity
This work offers a contemporary and singular vision of the Koutoubia Mosque, emblematic monument of Marrakech.
Created by direct superimposition at the moment of capture, without recourse to digital retouching, it bears witness to rare technical mastery and a demanding artistic approach.
The image goes beyond mere representation to become a complex visual construction, where architecture, light and memory intertwine.
With a chromatic treatment dominated by deep blues and punctuated by warm highlights, the work belongs to a contemporary aesthetic close to certain Bauhaus-inspired explorations and experimental photography.
Each print is produced in a limited edition, guaranteeing its rarity and value for collectors.
Passionate about photography from a very young age, Ben DAUCHEZ began in the neighborhood studios of La Rochelle. There he acquired the full range of classic photographic technique, from shooting to retouching and through to the laboratory. At 22, freshly graduated, he moved to Paris to further his training by becoming a set assistant for Daguerre studios, Le Petit Oiseau va sortir and Studio Zéro. He had the opportunity to collaborate with and assist some of the most talented photographers: Bettina RHEIMS, Patrick DEMARCHELIER, Terry RICHARDSON, Ellen VON UNWERTH, Marcus MAM... From certain decisive encounters arose beautiful projects and long collaborations, notably with André RAU, Bettina RHEIMS (the sultry INRI exhibition and its eponymous book at Editions Albin Michel) and Peter BEARD (2009 Pirelli calendar in Botswana).
His photos have been published, among others, by Condé Nast Editions (French and international), Première, WallPaper, ID, Madame Figaro, Lifestyles, Dandy Magazine... His world also interests brands with very different identity codes, for whom he has created Institutional and/or advertising campaigns such as Dior (beauty), L'Oréal, Peugeot, Philip Morris, and Burger King (advertising awarded at the Dubai Lynx).
Ben DAUCHEZ has also produced numerous portraits of celebrities (IGGY POP, Woody ALLEN, Grace JONES, Jean DUJARDIN, Gilles LELLOUCHE, Olivier MARCHAL, Carole BOUQUET, Charlotte GAINSBOURG, ...) of beauty, world figures (Olivier DASSAULT, Jacques SEGUELA...) and travelers...
This photographic path has since allowed him to freely immortalize the human beauty, aesthetics and spirit of each personality.
