Description from the seller

COLLECTOR'S LOT: 5 unique works from the Piege a la Pinture series, by ARTIST SPEEDY GRAPHITO. Premium Street Art collection

Artist Speedy Graphito, (Paris 1961)
Unique, hand-signed piece, containing a fragment of wall extracted from portions of the murals painted by the artist across Paris.

Speedy Graphito is considered one of the pioneers of urban art in France and a key figure since the 1980s. He graduated from École Estienne in 1983, began his career with the X-Moulinex collective, and later devoted himself entirely to his solo practice from 1984. He soon occupied urban spaces with a distinctive style that combines stencils, painting, humor, and references to popular culture.

His artistic universe is influenced by figurative drawing, comics, mangas, video games, and advertising iconography. His character "Lapinture" becomes a recurring symbol in his work. With irony and acuity, the artist examines the visual codes of consumer society, offering a playful yet critical interpretation of the contemporary world.

Speedy Graphito uses multiple media including painting, sculpture, video, photography, performances, and digital art. His iconic murals are present in Paris and many other cities around the world. He has exhibited in prestigious galleries and institutions in France and abroad. Among his most notable exhibitions are "Un Art de Vivre" at the Musée du Touquet-Paris-Plage in 2016, "Les Mondes Imaginaires" at the Musée en Herbe in Paris in 2021, and "La Grande Illusion" at Fluctuart in 2024, an immersive experience that received excellent reviews.

He also exhibits in international galleries such as Fabien Castanier Gallery in Los Angeles and Miami, Kolly Gallery in Zurich, and Cohle Gallery in Paris. In 2016, his work "Art is Fight" set a bidding record at Tajan, reaching €58,500, confirming his status as a prominent figure in contemporary urban art. His works pay homage to great masters such as Van Gogh, Mondrian, Miró, or Dalí, without losing his vibrant, colorful, and impactful style.
