Everhardus Koster (The Hague, 1817 – Dordrecht, 1892) studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague under B.J. van Hove. He developed into a respected painter and watercolorist of sea- and river-views. After study trips through Germany, he settled in Amsterdam in 1848. He exhibited frequently and regularly visited England, where his marine works were particularly popular. His work is included in several Dutch museum collections, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
