H. Casevitz - Le Globe Trotter - 1907-1909

Very beautiful set of two large volumes from the famous Belle Époque weekly magazine: Le Globe-Trotter: Journal of travels, adventures, news, novels, explorations, discoveries. A fascinating historical and ethnographic testimony on world exploration at the very beginning of the 20th century. This exceptional lot includes:
Volume 1 (1907): Collecting the issues from the year 1907.
Volume 2 (1908-1909): Collecting the issues from the pivotal 1908-1909 period.

These volumes are bursting with iconography of extraordinary richness for the era: hundreds of documentary black-and-white photographs, geographical maps, reports of colonial expeditions and narratives of explorers across the five continents. The work also includes famous adventure and science fiction serialized novels, characteristic of the scientific and imaginative spirit of the Belle Époque (including classics such as translations of H.G. Wells or stories by Paul de Sémant).

Binding: Matching period half-leather bindings / brown morocco. The spine is adorned with blind tooling, with the titles and the year markings "1907" and "1908-09" finely struck in gold.

Condition:
Robust and well preserved. The bindings are solid and securely hold the leaves. The leather spines show signs of wear, minor creasing and the usual signs of handling at the headcaps and along the hinges, giving them a very beautiful original patina.
The interior is clean, the paper naturally yellowed with the usual scattered foxing for this type of newspaper from that era.
