—
Tam Monteiro (b. 1982) is a Philippine born and Portugal based Abstract Figurative painter.
She creates contemporary pieces inspired by emotional connections, memories and the subconscious while capturing a sense of familiarity through abstract elements and balanced compositions.
Formally trained in interior design in London, she has been painting professionally for almost a decade. She is a lifelong creative whose practice is shaped by extensive travels and a rich ethnic heritage, giving her work visual and cultural depth. The influence of Max Ernst, Dorothea Tanning, and Paul Klee, is visible in the work’s complexity, yet her voice remains distinctly personal.
Tam's visual language explores emotional awakening, hope, renewal and resilience. These are depicted through vibrant colours, subtle shade, and a compositional balance that gives a sense of order and intention.
She has been exhibiting with local and international galleries since 2018 and her paintings are in private collections in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Mexico, Poland, Spain, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and Taiwan.
