# About Karl Lagasse

Karl Lagasse is a French contemporary artist whose works are recognized internationally. He gained particular prominence with his **One Dollar** sculptures, which earned him, in **2009**, a place by **Artprice** among the ten best sculptors under thirty.

In **2012**, the New York publisher **Farameh** selected him among fifty contemporary artists featured in the book *FOR WHICH IT STANDS: Americana in Contemporary Art*, dedicated to creators inspired by iconic symbols of the United States.

During **Art Paris Art Fair 2016**, his imposing bronze sculpture **One Dollar**, two meters tall and exhibited at the Grand Palais, received congratulations from the President of the French Republic.

## Artistic journey

Karl Lagasse began creating as a child. At seven years old, he made his first collages after a decisive meeting with sculptor **César Baldaccini**.

Subsequently, he developed graffiti and tagging in the Paris metro while continuing his collage work. Inspired by **Yvaral Vasarely**, he gradually merged these two disciplines, a démarche that would become an essential component of his artistic identity.

In **2003**, he prepared his first exhibition in Paris before organizing his first solo show in **2006** at the **Galerie Isy Brachot** in Brussels.

In **2008**, he presented at the **Espace Pierre Cardin** an exhibition bringing together paintings, sculptures, and video installations.

# Recent parcours (career path)

### 2026

* Finalization of the **One Dollar Green Bronze** of **8 meters** and **7 tons**, the largest sculpture in the *One Dollar* series created by Karl Lagasse.

### 2025

* Installation of the monumental sculpture **Reflection of the Sun** on the Promenade Michel d’Ornano, near the Deauville Baths Pavilion. The work was inaugurated on **September 8** by Mayor **Philippe Augier**.

### 2024

* Participation in **Art Miami** with **Galerie Nicolas Auvray New York**, where a **Cryptogram** in bronze 1.80 meters tall and a monumental **One Dollar** two meters tall are exhibited.
* For the **50th Deauville American Film Festival**, Karl Lagasse creates **18 bronze trophies** as well as a monumental two-meter sculpture intended for installation at the **CID**. Among the honorees are notably **Michael Douglas**, **Daisy Ridley**, **Natalie Portman**, **Michelle Williams** and **Mikey Madison**.

### 2023

* Installation of a monumental **One Dollar** two meters tall in front of the **St. Regis Aspen**, covered by **The Aspen Times**.
* The rapper **Rick Ross** poses with a special edition **One Dollar St. Regis**.

### 2022

* Broadcast of the work **A One Dollar in the Cyberspace City** on the Nasdaq giant screen in **Times Square (New York)**.
* Creation of trophies awarded notably to **Thandiwe Newton**, **Jesse Eisenberg** and **Ana de Armas** at the American Film Festival.

### 2021–2003

The journey continues with the opening of his studio in **Austin (Texas)**, the finalization of the sculpture **Ascension of Christ**, development of the monumental project **One Dollar Green Bronze 8 Meters**, creation of the Deauville American Film Festival trophies, collaborations with **Maserati**, international exhibitions (Art Paris, Art Miami, Art Monaco, Art Zurich, Opera Gallery, Bel Air Fine Art, etc.), monumental installations, public commissions, and numerous exhibitions organized between **2003 and 2021**, which helped establish his reputation on the international art scene.
