This oil painting on canvas captures a serene and dynamic underwater scene, where two swimmers are viewed from behind, swimming in parallel toward the distance. Sunlight penetrates from the surface, creating a complex pattern of caustics (wavy reflections) that dance on the skin of the women and through the vibrant, translucent blue water. The left woman wears a blue bikini, with her hair tied in a neat bun and a strand floating gently, extending her arms with grace. The woman on the right, wearing a red bikini, has blonde hair pulled into a loose ponytail and also glides through the water. The painting stands out for its realism in depicting the underwater anatomy, the texture of the swimsuits, and above all, the masterful handling of light refraction and water movement, creating a sense of weightlessness and summer tranquility.
