Italian school (XVII) - Escena religiosa - XL format

The scene depicts the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus and the young Saint John the Baptist, accompanied by an angel. John appears kneeling, offering a filacteria (ribbon with an inscription), a motif very common in Italian religious painting. In the background there is palatial architecture with a red curtain and an open landscape, typical devices of the late Renaissance and the early Baroque.

From the composition and the style, it seems to be inspired by works from the late 16th or early 17th century.
