Bronze statue representing Saint Michael the Archangel in the act of killing the devil.
Saint Michael the Archangel,
..has been since 1949 the patron saint of the State Police.
We encounter him five times in the Bible, we know his literary image in the Divine Comedy: he is the heavenly messenger who descends from Paradise to open to the poet and his master the doors of the city of Dis while "full of disdain" he seizes the occasion to reaffirm the definitive defeat of the spirits of evil and their powerlessness before the divine will [Inferno, canto IX, 64-105].
This is a statue in bronze produced with the lost-wax technique.
Italian origin, late 20th century.

Good condition except for some small marks due to age.
