Decorative ornament - Japanese mask

This exquisitely handcrafted Noh mask is carved from natural wood. The face has a light beige base, with sorrowful wrinkles carved into the eye sockets and brow. The eyes are gilded and openwork, and the mouth features exposed fangs with red edges, conveying a complex expression of pain, resentment, and ferocity. The beautiful natural wood grain is intentionally preserved, enhancing the sculptural quality of the piece without any painted decoration.
