This sculpture depicts Navaneeta Krishna, the infant form of the god Krishna famous for his love of freshly churned butter. The divine child is depicted standing on a circular lotus-motif base (padmapitha), triumphantly holding a knob of butter in each hand.
The deity is crowned with a bun topped by a fine floral ornament, a hairstyle characteristic of Indian representations of children. His smiling face bears incised eyes and the tilak on the forehead. His plump body is adorned with numerous traditional jewelry: carved necklaces, toe rings, armlets, dangling earrings hanging over the shoulders, as well as a decorative belt holding a sacred cord.
The statuette is made using a bronze and brass assembly technique. The main figure presents a deep brown patina with lighter areas worn by ritual use.
The sculpture rests on an imposing square base with molded steps, engraved with geometric and floral motifs on the lower border. At the back of the pedestal, two truncated vertical rods indicate the original presence of a mandorla or an arc of glory (prabhavali) that frames the deity and is removable.
