Description from the seller

Romantic Stagecoach Arrival at the Fachwerk House –

Oil on Panel – Handicraft–Ornate Frame

For sale is a moodful, richly detailed oil painting by the well-known German landscape and genre painter Bruno Krauel (1907–1999). The work impresses with its lively composition in an elegant panorama format.

Subject: A historic yellow-blue stagecoach with a pair of horses arrives in front of a historic inn built in half-timbered construction. In the foreground and around the coach, finely worked figures in historical clothing enliven the scene. In the left background, a broad, idyllic village landscape extends beneath a slightly cloudy blue sky.

Signature: At the bottom left, finely incised by the artist into the wet paint and signed “B. Krauel.”

Framing: The painting is housed in a magnificent, heavy wooden double frame in gold- and bronze-toned colors (depth: 6 cm). The inner portion is traditionally smooth with a fine texture, while the outer frame is decorated with baroque-inspired ornaments and ornate corners. On the back of the frame there is an oval workshop stamp reading “Handarbeit,” underscoring the high level of craftsmanship.

Condition: The painting remains in untouched original condition and is still firmly fixed in the frame at the back with the original pin mounting. The paint surface shows a beautiful color intensity with impasto and is absolutely without defects. At the very bottom left on the outer edge of the splendid frame there is a minimal, pinhead-sized flaw (small, light spot – about 1–2 mm) in the gilding (see detail photo).

Apart from this defect, the delicate corners and stucco decorations are crack-free, completely intact, and show no chipping or flaws.
